Nowadays we are being daily bombarded by new social media platforms & features and we are continuously trying to predict the future of these networks and where they will lead us. We reckon that the coming years hold major leaps and turning points to go back to the basics and roots of social media, whereby people rather than brands will be the key players in this complex equation. Thus, we had taken the initiative to be your reliable fortuneteller and give you insights and glimpses about the future of social media by interviewing 4 social media experts & entrepreneurs (Najy Cherabieh , Philipe Abo Zied, Roland Abi Najem & Bilal Daaboul), who were asked to give their thorough insights with regards to similar questions.

Q1. From your own experience, name top 2 social media marketing trends brands should focus-on in 2018?


My personal opinion is that 2018 will slowly start to see the shift away from the “influencers model”. There are multiple reasons for this. Primarily, Facebook/Instagram will be tweaking further the organic reach of influencers to push sponsors to directly advertise with Facebook, as opposed to funds going directly to influencers.I also believe Facebook will be bringing back some reach towards “quality content publishers” as they try to combat click bait and spam type content.Facebook has realized that quality publishers are key to their successful business model (aside from personal friends’ connections on the timeline), so they will be working out a balance between publishers reach and personal posts reach and sponsored posts.So for clients, the marketing trends will be a combination of marketing expenditure on Facebook, Instagram, publishers and influencers. My personal believe is that influencers' trends and expenditures will start to shift as the year goes on.


Q2. What do you predict for the future of social media?


This is virtually an impossible question to answer. The only constant is change!AI (Artificial Intelligence) will play a much bigger role in the near future. I believe the future of social media is more personalized through AI taking control of what you see based on your trends and habits and AI will be integrated more and more into everyday social media habits and operating in the background in a non-intrusive manner.I also believe the difference between the various social platforms, digital platforms and apps will blur further as "social media platforms" shift into "media platforms" (Facebook TV, Etc.)​

Q1. From your own experience, name top 2 social media marketing trends brands should focus-on in 2018?


The Top Two Trends in the social media marketing are :A- Video-Graph: People do not read long text anymore; you need to deliver your essence in a short video with text on image. Make your videos short ( less than a minute ) , attractive and spread them on all your social media accounts.B- Social Media used as Customer Service:More and more companies are using social media in customer relations and services and this is an efficient / fast and modern way to provide quick feedback to customers. You can start developing Message BOTS (robots ) able to provide this service with modern AI (artificial intelligence) in order to simulate a human-like conversation.


Q2. What do you predict for the future of social media?


I consider social media is here to stay, however I predict more problems when it comes to security and user-privacy.We are living in an exposed world and there is a need to protect oneself by taking care of our online security.I predict developed social media services with Augmented Reality tools and applications and I also foresee a drop in Facebook users due to privacy problems.​

Q1. From your own experience, name top 2 social media marketing trends brands should focus-on in 2018?


I think the first trend would be chatbots, we will find lots of chatbots accounts talking to each other and to other people and doing lots of virtual engagement.The second trend would be More Augmented-Reality & Face Filters since it showed that people loved it so much.


Q2. What do you predict for the future of social media?


Undoubtedly Artificial Intelligence (AI) is going to touch everything we do because systems are becoming smarter. More, I think governments will work more and more to put rules and regulations since things are going out of control.

Q1. From your own experience, name top 2 social media marketing trends brands should focus-on in 2018?


From my experience, the main 2 social media trends in 2018 are:

A. Video content​ Nothing on social media is as eye-catching as good video content. Most of the social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Snapchat will continue to increase dramatically in 2018.The huge variety of video formats makes it flexible for marketing teams to go wild with their imaginations and creativity as the art of storytelling will increase gradually and live video will continue to dominate on all the other formats.

B. Mobile is the New Target Smartphones and social media are the perfect combination. After all, most of Twitter and YouTube video views are now from users on mobile devices. So team marketers should increase their budgets for mobile ads and work on modifying their campaigns in order to reach more of the devices’ holders.


Q2. What do you predict for the future of social media?


Social media platforms are getting day after day more reliable and most development researches are targeting the behavior of the smart phones holders with greater focus on personality. For example, on Twitter and LinkedIn, if you don't fill in the main fields such as your picture, location, and bio, you can lose your chances of attracting followers. In the upcoming years, social media sites will focus heavily on the on boarding process for making users maintain full and complete profiles. This will not only keep users focused and engaged on the respective social media platform longer, but, however it will allow marketers to tailor their targeted ads to a more refined and focused group of individuals. So in other words we are shifting to the digital world personalities where we can predict completely to see elections through digital signature -identification when voting or dealing with any governmental issues
